The Presidential Election Petition Court’s chief justice, Justice Haruna Tsammani, has turned down the demand for live coverage of the court proceedings.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP)’s plea was unjustified, according to Justice Tsammani, who made this statement during the hearing on Monday in Abuja.
In order for the daily court hearings in their case against President-elect Bola Tinubu, which began after the election on February 25, to be broadcast live, the PDP’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar submitted an application on May 8 asking for authorization.
A similar request for televised tribunal proceedings was made by the Labour Party (LP) and Peter Obi, who is running for president.
After a week, Tinubu, on the other hand, rejected the application, claiming that it amounted to an abuse of the legal system.
