Super Eagles Triumph Over Jamaica to Win 2025 Unity Cup

In a thrilling finale at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford, England, Nigeria’s Super Eagles emerged victorious over Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz, clinching the 2025 Unity Cup with a dramatic 5–4 penalty shootout win after a pulsating 2–2 draw in regulation time.

The match kicked off with Nigeria taking an early lead in the ninth minute, courtesy of Moses Simon, who finished off a well-placed cross from Cyriel Dessers. However, Jamaica responded swiftly, with Kaheim Dixon leveling the score just three minutes later after a brilliant assist from Renaldo Cephas.

The Super Eagles regained their advantage in the 53rd minute when Samuel Chukwueze delivered a stunning left-footed strike from the edge of the box. But Jamaica refused to back down, as Jonathan Russell found the net in the 63rd minute, once again assisted by Cephas, ensuring the contest remained evenly poised.

With neither side able to break the deadlock in the remaining minutes, the match proceeded to a tense penalty shootout. Nigeria converted all five of their spot-kicks, with Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon, Bruno Onyemaechi, Tolu Arokodare, and Christantus Uche all finding the target. Jamaica’s Dwayne Atkinson missed his attempt, handing Nigeria the victory.

This triumph marks Nigeria’s second Unity Cup title, having previously won the inaugural edition in 2004. It also serves as a significant milestone for head coach Eric Chelle, who secured his first trophy since taking charge in March. The Super Eagles will now shift their focus to their upcoming friendly against Russia on June 6.
