The House of Representatives on Monday screened the service chiefs recently appointed by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu. The ad-hoc committee was led by the Majority Leader of the House, Julius Ihonvbere, and comprised of all the principal officers from the majority and minority parties.
The service chiefs include Maj. Gen. Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff, Maj. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja as Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla as Chief of Naval Staff, and AVM Hassan Abubakar as Chief of Air Staff.
The Chairman of the Adhoc Committee, Babajimi Benson, urged the service chiefs to work in synergy and adhere to the provisions of the Appropriation Act. He also said their performances would be reviewed by the National Assembly if they are confirmed.
Maj. Gen. Musa vowed that under his watch, the Armed Forces would protect the territorial integrity of the country and cooperate with other security agencies.
The session followed the screening and confirmation of the appointment of the service chiefs by the Senate last Thursday. President Tinubu had removed all the former service chiefs on June 19, 2023, three weeks after his inauguration.
