Atiku, Obi urged to drop court petitions against Tinubu by former campaign coordinator
Dr. Ene Ogbole, a former coordinator in the disbanded All Progressives Congress Campaign Council, has appealed to the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi, to withdraw their petitions against President Bola Tinubu’s election victory at the tribunal and support his vision for a national unity government. Ogbole made this appeal at a media briefing in Abuja on Thursday.
She said, “We acknowledge that it is the fundamental right of all aggrieved candidates to seek justice in the court of law, but we also appeal to them in the interest of the nation to reconsider their actions and join forces with the president in his proposed national unity and all-inclusive government.
We are making this appeal confidently because we can see clearly that the Tinubu-led administration is committed to working tirelessly to bring peace, development and progress to Nigeria.
We are sure that all the candidates of other political parties have the same noble intentions for the nation and they can collaborate with him to achieve those patriotic goals in the interest of the nation.”
Her appeal came shortly after Atiku presented a digital forensic expert as a witness at the tribunal to support his petition against the president.
During the hearing of their petition, the 26th witness, Hitler Nwala, testified under cross-examination by the petitioners’ lawyer, Chris Uche, SAN, that he submitted a report of his investigation on the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System. The witness claimed that his findings show that the election results of the Federal Capital Territory were intentionally deleted from the BVAS machine.
However, the former campaign coordinator of Tinubu said that the best way for Obi and Atiku to demonstrate that their struggles are not personal or selfish is for them to drop their cases from the court and work together with the president to fulfil his ‘Renewed Hope’ promises to Nigerians. She said that Tinubu’s government has shown beyond doubt that it is a transformative government with great potential to unite and reposition Nigeria for a breakthrough.
“The current administration is doing very well already as seen in some of the nation-building steps he has taken such as the removal of fuel subsidy, the signing of the education bill into law, the display of unprecedented fairness and equity in the appointment of key principal office holders and of course, his monetary and economic policies among others.”
