Former Kano Governor Summoned Over Bribery Videos

The Kano State anti-corruption agency has summoned the former governor of the state, Abdullahi Ganduje, over some videos that showed him receiving kickbacks from contractors in 2018.

The agency confirmed that the videos were authentic and that it had started an investigation into the matter but was stopped by Ganduje’s immunity as governor then.

The agency’s chairman, Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, said that Ganduje has been invited for questioning and that the agency would not compromise on its anti-corruption crusade.

The videos, which were released by an online publication, Daily Nigerian, in 2017, caused public outrage, as they showed Ganduje stuffing bundles of dollars into his white dress.

Ganduje had denied the allegation, claiming that the videos were doctored and that he was a victim of political blackmail.

However, the agency said that it had verified the videos with forensic experts and that they were genuine and unaltered.

The agency also said that it had identified some of the contractors who allegedly paid bribes to Ganduje and that they would be prosecuted accordingly.

The agency urged the public to support its efforts to rid the state of corruption and ensure accountability and transparency in governance.
