Court grants bail to DCP Kyari after 18 months in prison

Suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, has been granted bail by a Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday.

He was arrested in 2022 by the NDLEA for allegedly being involved in a 25kg cocaine deal and attempting to bribe an agency officer with $61,400. He was also indicted by the FBI for fraud in connection with Hushpuppi.

He has been in detention for 18 months and was denied bail on the cocaine trafficking charge.

The court granted him bail on the money laundering charge under stringent conditions. He still faces a criminal case before another judge.
