Vacate EFCC office immediately: PresidentTinubu tells DSS

President Bola Tinubu has directed the Department of State Service, DSS, to immediately vacate the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The President directive was contained in a statement issued by Tunde Rahman on Tuesday.

According to the statement, “The President gave the directive when reports that DSS officials stormed the EFCC office located on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos on Tuesday, preventing officials of the anti-graft agency from accessing their work place, was brought to his attention

“The President said if there were issues between the two important agencies of government, they would be resolved amicably.”

President Bola Tinubu has asked the Department of State Service, DSS, to vacate the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, office in Ikoyi, Lagos, immediately.

Tunde Rahman delivered a statement on Tuesday containing the President’s directive.

“The President gave the directive when reports that DSS officials stormed the EFCC office located on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos on Tuesday, preventing officials of the anti-graft agency from accessing their work place were brought to his attention,” according to the statement.

“The President stated that any differences between the two important branches of government would be resolved amicably.”

Recall there have been earlier reports that the DSS was preventing officials of the EFCC from gaining access to their office in Ikoyi, Lagos.

A source whose identity was not disclosed told Premium Times that DSS blocked the whole building and placed an armoured tank at the front of the building. “They even placed an armoured tank just to scare us away”, the source was reported to have said.

Both agencies according to reports, have been in loggerhead with each other over the ownership of the building.

As of the time of this report, all the EFCC officials at the office in Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, were prevented from accessing the building by SSS officials.

Previously, it was reported that the DSS was stopping EFCC officials from entering their office in Ikoyi, Lagos.

According to a source who did not want to be identified, the DSS blocked the entire structure and stationed an armored tank in front of it. “They even stationed an armored tank just to scare us away,” the person was quoted as saying.

According to accounts, both entities have been at odds about the ownership of the building.

At the time of writing, all EFCC officials at the office on Awolowo Road in Ikoyi were barred from entering the premises by SSS officials.
