JAMB Sets 140 as University Cut-Off Mark, 100 for Polytechnics and Colleges

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the minimum cut-off marks for admission into universities, polytechnics and colleges of education for the 2022/23 academic session.

According to the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, who made the announcement at the 2023 Policy Meeting on Admissions to Tertiary Institutions and Awards in Abuja on Saturday, June 24, the cut-off mark for universities is 140 and above, while the cut-off mark for polytechnics and colleges of education is 100 and above.

He explained that these are the lowest marks that institutions must comply with, but they can set higher marks based on their own criteria. He also said that candidates who scored below the cut-off marks can still apply for admission through other platforms such as pre-degree, diploma and part-time programmes.

The JAMB boss also revealed that the board is considering allowing candidates to take the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and the Direct Entry (DE) on their mobile phones as part of its “Bring Your Own Device” initiative.
