In a dramatic turn of events, the Osun State Government has ordered the immediate arrest of Moses Lohor, the head of the state’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad, along with his team members. This directive follows allegations of attempted murder and unprofessional conduct.
Governor Ademola Adeleke confirmed that the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has mandated the arrest and prosecution of Lohor and his squad. The decision came after a closed-door meeting between the Governor and the State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Umar Abba.
The controversy erupted when Wakeel Nurudeen Iyanda Alowonle, the Chairman of the Osun State Transport Management System, was allegedly shot by Lohor at the police station. Alowonle, who is currently on life support at the Osun State Teaching Hospital, was reportedly shot in the abdomen after a domestic dispute escalated.
The state government has condemned the actions of Lohor and his team, labeling the incident as a case of attempted murder. The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, emphasized that the government will ensure justice is served.
