Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has extended his medical leave indefinitely, according to the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt (Hon) Olamide Oladiji.
The Speaker said the extension was based on the doctor’s advice for Akeredolu to take adequate rest after recuperating.
Akeredolu, who is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital abroad, had earlier informed the House that he would proceed on medical leave on June 5 and was expected to resume on July 6.
In a letter addressed to the assembly, Akeredolu said his Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, would continue to act as Governor until he makes a written declaration to the contrary. The Speaker expressed appreciation to God for the recovery of the Governor and hoped that he would soon resume his duty.
