BRIEF HISTORY OF MADEINNIGERIA (MIN)

Indigenous People. Indigenous Products.

MadeinNigeria (MIN) began as a vision to showcase the strength, creativity, and economic potential of Nigeria’s indigenous people. What started as a simple idea—to give Nigerian products a unified digital home—evolved into a full-scale E-commerce, Indigenous Content, and Livestream Tradefair ecosystem.

The project is powered by madeinnigeria.app, with all core visual assets—including the MIN Logo, Mr. MIN teddy bear mascot, Naija Lover Android character, MIN Awards logo, and the phrase “Naija To The World”—fully trademarked. The word “MIN” itself is a protected intellectual property, symbolizing authenticity, pride, and Nigerian craftsmanship.

Early Development

The earliest versions of the MIN platform were built to solve three core problems facing Nigerian producers:

  1. Low visibility for genuinely Made-in-Nigeria products
  2. Fragmented markets with little digital trust
  3. A lack of fun, modern ways for Nigerians to shop local

The solution was a mobile app combining:

  • E-commerce,
  • Indigenous knowledge and storytelling,
  • A social community, and
  • A first-of-its-kind STREAMLIVE Stores system,
allowing vendors anywhere in the country to go live, sell products, and participate in monthly online trade fairs.

Growth of the MIN Ecosystem

MadeinNigeria soon expanded beyond regular online shopping. It evolved into a full indigenous economic ecosystem with multiple pillars:

E-Commerce & Visual Shopping

MIN introduced a new format where every product is displayed through a unique pop-up presentation system—giving equal visibility to big and small vendors. Only products made or assembled in Nigeria are allowed.

StreamLive Stores & Monthly TradeFares

A Nigerian innovation: vendors can go live directly from their dashboard, showcase products, interact real-time, and join trademarked monthly ONLINE TRADEFAIRS.

Indigenous Content & Cultural Education

The platform houses:

  • MIN Histories (36 states, heritage, resources, key industries)
  • Daily Indigenous News, Sports & Entertainment
  • Inventors Corner, showcasing Nigerian innovators
  • MadeinNigeria Awards, celebrating quality indigenous brands

Community & Open Interaction

Members enjoy:

  • Forums and sub-groups
  • Vendor WhatsApp and chat links
  • Service provider listings
  • Open marketplace interactions

Vendor & Customer Empowerment

MIN pioneered the UR UNIQUE PIC system—a referral code that allows every vendor and customer to earn from:

  • Subscription referrals (20%)
  • Product referrals (10%)

Each subscriber also receives a full Affiliate Dashboard to monitor earnings and activity.

Subscription Tiers & Business Empowerment

To serve both micro-businesses and large manufacturers, MIN launched subscription packages ranging from Starter Pack (₦500) to Platinum Pack (₦500,000). Higher tiers come with:

  • Verified MIN endorsement badges
  • Featured product placements
  • Dedicated profiling
  • Access to livestream stores
  • Banner advertising opportunities

Shop-by-State & Indigenous Local Discovery

One of MIN’s flagship innovations is SHOP BY STATES—a way to browse products, resources, and vendors based on their Nigerian state of origin. This reinforces indigenous pride and makes sourcing easier.

Jobs, Services & Careers

MIN expanded beyond commerce with:

  • MadeinNigeria Job Board
  • Service Provider Categories (Lawyers, plumbers, tutors, artisans)
  • Intra-vendor supply network, letting vendors collaborate across states to reduce delivery delays

Offline Expansion & Partnerships

MadeinNigeria has gone beyond the digital space with:

  • Plans for MadeinNigeria Stores Ltd. (physical outlets)
  • Invitations for PPP (Public-Private Partnerships)
  • Engagements with the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade & Investment
  • Participation in national SME clinics, expos, and diaspora empowerment programs

Mission & Philosophy

At its core, MIN stands for:
A world where Nigerians celebrate their origin, creativity, resources, and products — proudly and globally.

The mission has remained constant:
