Nigeria’s female under-17 team, the flamingoes are on ravaging form at the ongoing FIFA World Cup happening in India after qualifying for the Semi-finals of the competition.
The hungry Flamingoes went ahead in the first half as Omamuzo Edafe gave the under-17 team the lead after Amina Bello was brought down in the box leading to a penalty kick. The lead did not extend till the end of the game as The Yanks found an equalizer through Amalia Villareal just before the halftime break.
The exciting and relentless game ended in a 1-1 draw that led to a penalty kick-off, which the Flamingoes won 4-3, becoming the first team to qualify for the semi-finals and reaching the semi-finals for the first time.
Coach Bankole Olowookere was filled with praises as she expresses excitement with the team’s performance after the win. However, the coach reassured supporters that the Flamingoes will improve on their weaknesses as they prepare for the semi-finals, where they will be facing either Columbia or Tanzania on Saturday.
